Aden | South Eye

The Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting today, Thursday, in the capital, Aden, under the chairmanship of Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Council and President of the National Assembly, with the attendance of several ministers from the Council within the government and heads of supporting bodies.

The session began with a tribute of loyalty and reverence to mark the eighth anniversary of the Historic Aden Declaration on May 4, 2017  a pivotal moment in the course of the Southern revolution, reaffirming the free will of the Southern people to restore their state and achieve their legitimate aspirations. The Presidency expressed pride in the achievements realized since that declaration, foremost among them being the establishment of the Southern Transitional Council on May 11 of the same year, as a national political representative carrying the just cause of the South.

On this occasion, the Presidency extended its highest congratulations and blessings to President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, renewing its pledge of loyalty and commitment to his wise leadership until the goals of the people of the South are fulfilled, mainly, liberation, independence, and the building of their aspired state across the entirety of their national territory.

The Presidency then listened to a comprehensive briefing presented by the Council’s political team, covering the latest political developments on both the local and regional fronts, as well as updates on the military and security landscape in light of ongoing regional changes. The briefing also included the Council’s diplomatic efforts on the Arab and international levels to strengthen the presence of the Southern cause in global forums, the most recent of which was the inauguration of the Council’s mission in Washington, D.C.

The meeting also discussed a range of issues related to the humanitarian situation facing the Southern people across various governorates, amidst the economic crisis and the continued deterioration of the currency exchange rate and its impact on citizens’ livelihoods. In this context, the Presidency commended the ongoing efforts of President Commander Aidarous Al-Zubaidi in following up on service and living conditions, particularly the electricity crisis that is severely affecting the capital Aden and other Southern governorates with the onset of summer.

The Council praised his persistent efforts in maintaining continuous communication with the brothers in the United Arab Emirates to secure new support projects in the electricity sector, which would contribute to alleviating citizens' suffering and ensuring stability in this vital area.

The Presidency also expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the fraternal role and generous support provided by the United Arab Emirates to our people across various humanitarian, service, and development fields, affirming that this support reflects the depth of historical ties and shared destiny between our country and the UAE.

The Presidency emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen Southern national cohesion, upholding national principles, and remaining fully prepared to engage with all political changes in a manner that serves the cause of the South and the rights of its people.
