Khalid Al-Yamani, Advisor to the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), asserted that the "two-state solution" option represents a practical exit rather than an ideological resolution to address the crisis. He emphasized that continuing to impose trusteeship on the South and attempting to bypass the will of its people will neither achieve stability nor build the trust demanded by the international community.

In an analytical article published via the Middle East Forum Observatory, Al-Yamani added that the scene at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly exposed the extent of the imbalance in the prevailing equation. This came as figures associated with the Muslim Brotherhood dominated official delegations and spoke about countering terrorism, while Southern armed forces on the ground actively fight Iran-backed Houthi militias and terrorist organizations, struggling to make their voices heard globally.

He highlighted the protest organized by Southerners in front of the UN headquarters in New York to reject trusteeship and affirm their right to self-determination. He noted that measures targeting the Southern Transitional Council did not eradicate the national cause; rather, they shifted it to the streets in Aden, Mukalla, and international decision-making capitals, accompanied by statements from international parties affirming that a two-state configuration is a viable solution with historical precedents.

Furthermore, Al-Yamani stressed the necessity of transferring the political file to international sponsorship led by the United States through the International Quad—away from monopoly or hegemony—without disregarding the legitimate interests of neighboring countries. He affirmed that adopting the pre-1990 borders as a primary basis for negotiations between two fully sovereign states is the sole guarantee for ensuring stability, resource sharing, and protecting international navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea.
