The Administrative Body of the Advisory Council of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting today, Tuesday, in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Ahmed Al-Rubaizi, Vice President of the Council.

During the meeting, the Council discussed the latest humanitarian and economic developments in the southern governorates, expressing concern over the worsening living conditions due to the government’s failure to provide basic services and its neglect of its responsibilities to halt the continuous decline in the exchange rate, secure fuel for power stations, disburse salaries, and activate revenue-generating institutions.

In its meeting, the Council held the government fully responsible for the deteriorating conditions, calling on the Presidential Leadership Council to fulfill its obligations and assume its responsibilities toward citizens. It warned of the consequences of ignoring popular protests demanding improved services and an end to the people’s suffering.

The meeting also reviewed a report by the Advisory Committee on Economic Affairs, which addressed the repercussions of the systematic economic war targeting the people of the South and their right to a dignified life.

In this context, the Advisory Council called on the Presidential Leadership Council to swiftly implement genuine reforms in economic institutions, activate sovereign resources and oversight bodies, and curb the rampant corruption in the oil and gas sectors. It emphasized the need to enhance principles of transparency and accountability, provide Aden with the attention befitting its status and leading role, and empower southern cadres in decision-making centers, particularly in sovereign economic institutions.

The Administrative Body concluded its meeting with a number of proposals and recommendations aimed at addressing the current situation, in addition to reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous meeting.
