The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, President of the Assembly and Acting President of the Council.

At the outset of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Issam Abdu Ali, Vice President of the Assembly, the Body paid tribute to the people of the South on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of Southern Martyr’s Day. It renewed its pledge to continue following in the footsteps of the righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives to achieve freedom and independence, and to walk their path until liberation from the yoke of occupation, its effects, and its tools, ultimately attaining independence and building a fully sovereign federal Southern state.

The Administrative Body reviewed the latest political, economic, and security developments in the southern governorates, particularly the ongoing peaceful popular protests denouncing economic and service deterioration. The Body reaffirmed its support for the people’s right to peaceful protest and demonstration, while rejecting the severe decline in basic services, the collapse of the local currency, and the resulting skyrocketing cost of living that has burdened citizens.

The Body warned against hostile parties attempting to exploit the protests and the public’s anger to destabilize the security situation and create chaos in the capital, Aden, and other southern governorates. At the same time, it praised the professional and responsible manner in which Southern security forces have handled the peaceful protests, reflecting their commitment to maintaining security and stability while respecting the right to peaceful expression.

The Administrative Body held the government and the Presidential Leadership Council responsible for the unprecedented deterioration of economic and service conditions, which has exacerbated the suffering of citizens. It emphasized that the time has come to implement radical solutions to the current crisis, foremost among them ensuring that revenues from all governorates are directed to the Central Bank in Aden and utilized to develop and improve services in the southern governorates and other liberated areas.

In another context, the Administrative Body reviewed a comprehensive report on how to manage the potential relocation of international and UN organizations to the capital, Aden, and the urgent measures required to facilitate this process. The Body endorsed all the recommendations in the report, while reiterating its rejection of any attempts to resettle displaced persons in the South, which would alter the demographic composition and harm the Southern identity.

At the conclusion of its meeting, the Body addressed the remaining items on its agenda and reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting.
