Aden | South Eye

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, President of the NationalAssembly and Acting President of the Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Administrative Body commemorated the eighth anniversary of the Historic Aden Declaration on May 4, 2017, followed by the announcement of the establishment of the Southern Transitional Council on May 11, 2017. On this occasion, the body extended congratulations to President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Council, reaffirming its continued commitment to the struggle through this political entity that represents the cause of the people of the South, with the ultimate goal of restoring the fully sovereign state of South Yemen within the borders prior to May 22, 1990.

The body affirmed that this occasion remains a glorious and eternal milestone, having ended the fragmentation that had prevailed since 1994. Thanks to this achievement, a unified political leadership emerged to carry the cause of the southern people. The leadership and members of the body also paid tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the South, who sacrificed their lives to strengthen the foundations of this cause.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the southern political landscape and its challenges, as well as the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Council to strengthen its political presence regionally and internationally. The members confirmed the Southern Transitional Council's commitment to the peace process and its involvement in the comprehensive political process, in which all main parties — particularly the Council — will participate, addressing all issues, including the cause of the southern people.

The body also listened to reports from the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Health and Environment Committee, which included a review of relevant laws, legislation, data, and statistics related to the committees’ work.

Additionally, the meeting discussed the report presented by the Youth and Sports Committee, which focused on strategies to activate the social and cultural role of sports clubs in the South. The report provided an overview of the current state of social and cultural activities within southern clubs and outlined a future vision for revitalizing and enhancing their role.

The meeting concluded with discussions on several other items on its agenda, and the necessary decisions were taken accordingly.
