The delegation of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), headed by Amr Al-Baidh, Special Representative of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi for Foreign Affairs, continues its high-level diplomatic meetings in Washington, D.C. These meetings have included members of Congress, leading U.S. think tanks, and major official American media outlets.

During these engagements, the delegation presented reports issued by prominent American research centers, which documented the pivotal role of the STC and the Southern Armed Forces as the most effective force in combating terrorism in southern Yemen over recent years. These reports praised the field successes achieved in dismantling extremist networks.

The STC delegation also warned of the dangers of recent developments, citing American reports that confirmed a rise in the activities of Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, and their expansion in several areas from which southern forces had withdrawn since last January. The delegation emphasized that this withdrawal created a “security vacuum” that terrorist organizations have exploited to reorganize their ranks.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Atef, the STC representative in the United States, affirmed that there is broad understanding among American partners regarding the challenges in the South. He noted that Washington recognizes the importance of the STC as a reliable partner capable of addressing current threats.
