President Al-Zubaidi Discusses Economic and Security Developments in Our Country with the U.S. Ambassador

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Thursday, via video call, with His Excellency Steven Fagin, the United States Ambassador to our country.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in our country and the efforts undertaken by the Presidential Leadership Council to overcome the economic challenges resulting from the ongoing war waged by the Houthi militia against our people, including its attacks on sovereign economic facilities, particularly oil and gas export installations.

The discussion also covered the latest updates regarding the U.S. decision to designate the Houthi militia as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and the necessary measures to be implemented at the local level following the enforcement of this designation.

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi reiterated his welcome of the U.S. decision, considering the recent sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department on top Houthi leaders as a victory for justice, given the crimes they have committed against the defenseless population since launching their reckless war in 2015.

President Al-Zubaidi further emphasized that designating the militia as a Foreign Terrorist Organization marks the beginning of the end of the terrorism it practices on land and at sea. He stressed the importance of coordination between regional and international partners to enforce the designation effectively, ensuring the deterrence of the militia's terrorism and the destruction of its military capabilities, which pose a threat to regional and international security and stability
