 President Al-Zubaidi Launches Strategic Projects and Lays the Foundation for a Stable Southern Future

Developmental steps reflect the major transformations taking place in the South, as President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi concluded a historic tour encompassing all southern governorates, with development, stability, and the restoration of the South’s leading role on the regional economic map as its central themes.

In the final stop of this tour, President Al-Zubaidi laid the foundation stone for the strategic Socotra Port, a project that represents a qualitative leap in the island’s maritime infrastructure and opens wide horizons for sustainable development in the South. The project, supported by the Kuwait Fund for Development, includes the construction of breakwaters, a dock to accommodate large ships, an advanced maneuvering area, and modern service and administrative facilities. Prior to this, the President inaugurated the airport on Abd al-Kuri Island, which had been neglected and forgotten for the past three decades.

This development and construction are part of a comprehensive national project championed by President Al-Zubaidi during his visits to the southern governorates, which marked the beginning of a new phase of building and development. These efforts are led by the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in cooperation with regional allies.

In Shabwa, the focus was on establishing the Petro Shabwa project and developing the port as one of the governorate’s most important economic pillars. This ensures the resumption of oil exports at a higher capacity, increased production levels, and easier transportation.

In Al-Mahra, the historic visit aimed to connect with the people of the governorate and inaugurate several service projects, including the development of the Fish Landing Port. This strategic project aims to enhance the efficiency of the fishing sector, empower local fishermen, and transform Al-Mahra into an export hub for fish and seafood, contributing to the local economy and achieving self-sufficiency.

In the capital, Aden, President Al-Zubaidi focused on restarting the Aden refineries and developing the ports. This is a crucial step to ensure energy security and achieve independence in providing petroleum products, reducing reliance on imports and breaking the political monopoly. This move supports the South’s long-term economy. Additionally, the Aden Tourism Guide was launched under the title "Aden: History and Tourism," a step toward enhancing Aden’s role as a global tourist destination.

In Abyan the president Al Zubaidi Reaffirm that the advancement of Abyan and the restoration of its momentum, its pioneering role is all our responsibility, and the responsibility starts from activating the service and revenue institutions, and encouraging the agricultural and fishing sectors. The President Al Zubaidi confirm that Abyan is a priority in government programs related to the normalization of service and economic conditions and reconstruction.

For Lahj, the President Al -Zubaidi also directed the ministers concerned in the fields of transportation, agriculture, stressing the need to reform the local authority system and activate the role of control to address security and administrative imbalances.

President Al-Zubaidi in his visit to Al Dhalea emphasized the importance of unity, solidarity, and working as a team to advance the governorate and serve its people. In his speech, he directed the ministers of the Southern Transitional Council in the government to adopt the governorate's issues, each within their respective responsibilities.

During his tour, President Al-Zubaidi did not overlook the youth file, as 17,000 new jobs for graduates were announced. This step aims to create employment opportunities and strengthen the role of southern competencies in the developmental renaissance.

At every stop of the visit, there was a clear determination to build a state of institutions capable of achieving economic and developmental stability, advanced infrastructure, and an independent economy. These efforts enjoy close support from regional partners, who have come to recognize the importance of supporting the South as a pillar of regional stability. There is a vested interest that everyone must understand: the economic and political stability of the South will undoubtedly positively reflect on the interests of the region and the world at large.

With President Al-Zubaidi’s return to the capital, Aden, it is clear that the South is steadily moving toward reclaiming its political and economic standing, which will undoubtedly benefit regional and international partners.
