Advisory Council Addresses the Political Scene and Economic Situation in the South

Aden | South Eye

The Administrative Body of the Advisory Council of the Southern Transitional Council held its first regular meeting for the month of May today, Tuesday, in the capital Aden, chaired by Mr. Ahmed Al-Rubaizi, Vice President of the Advisory Council.

At the outset of the meeting, the Advisory Council extended its congratulations to President Commander Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Transitional Council, and to the people of the South on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the Historic Aden Declaration. The Council praised the major national achievements realized since that historic declaration, which restored the South’s political identity and regional and international standing.

The Advisory Council also commended the steadfastness of the heroes of the Southern Armed Forces across all frontlines, especially in Al-Hadd Yafa'a and other border areas, where they bravely confront the terrorist Houthi militias in defense of the South's sovereignty and integrity.

The meeting reviewed a report presented by the Advisory Committee for Foreign Affairs, which discussed the opening of the Transitional Council’s mission in Washington. This move represents the establishment of diplomatic channels with decision-making countries to lay the foundation for a promising strategic partnership with the United States of America and to convey the aspirations of the Southern people for freedom and independence.

The Council also examined a summary report from the Advisory Committee for Economic Affairs, which highlighted the worsening living, economic, and social conditions in the South. It emphasized the failure of officials to find lasting solutions to ongoing issues such as electricity services and the depreciation of the local currency against foreign currencies, which directly impacts citizens' lives.

Additionally, the Advisory Committee for Cultural and Media Affairs presented a detailed report on the media landscape in the South, as well as an overview of the cultural situation in Lahij Governorate during April of the current year, including challenges faced in their operations and relevant recommendations.

The meeting concluded with a review and approval of the previous session's minutes, as well as discussions on a number of proposals and recommendations and the appropriate actions to be taken in response.
