President Al-Zubaidi Meets Acting U.S. Ambassador and Stresses the Importance of Supporting Peace and Economic Stability in Our Country

President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Sunday, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the Acting U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Mr. Jonathan Peccia.

The meeting reviewed the latest political and humanitarian developments in the country, in light of the ongoing economic crisis and its grave implications on the humanitarian situation, and the urgent need for a regional and international stance in support of the PLC and the government's efforts to provide services to citizens, support development projects, and enhance the capacities of financial and service institutions.

In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the need to intensify international efforts to support the government and the PLC in activating state institutions and normalizing service and living conditions. He pointed out that the government’s success in the liberated areas represents a crucial factor in achieving security and peace in the country.

The meeting also touched on military developments on the ground, particularly the ongoing mobilization by Houthi militias across various frontlines, their military escalation in contact zones, and their continued grave violations against civilians in areas under their control, including killings, arrests, and torture of unarmed innocents—practices that threaten peace prospects and worsen the humanitarian crisis.

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi affirmed that peace and stability in our country can't be achieved without eliminating the Houthi threat and finding just solutions to the root causes of conflict, foremost the Cause of the Southern People, in addition to supporting the country in overcoming the economic crisis caused by the Houthi war.

For his part, the Acting U.S. Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s support for the PLC and its commitment to restoring security and stability in our country and the region. He emphasized that Washington is closely monitoring the situation on the ground and is working alongside regional and international partners to end the humanitarian suffering and build a just and sustainable peace in our country.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, member of the STC Presidency and Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission supporting the PLC; Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Auxiliary Authority in the Southern Transitional Council." and Chief of the Negotiations Affairs Unit; Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Vice President of the PLC; and Saleh Al-Qaiti, Advisor to the President.
