President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Her Excellency Catherine Corm-Kammoun, Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen.

The meeting discussed a range of political, economic, and humanitarian issues in the country, foremost among them the escalating economic crisis resulting from the continued suspension of oil and gas exports. This suspension is due to the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthi militia on export ports in the governorates of Hadramawt and Shabwa, which has led to a significant decline in public revenues and a deterioration in the living conditions of citizens.

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the urgent need to intensify international efforts to support the government and the PLC, in ways that contribute to revitalizing vital economic sectors—especially the oil and gas sector—securing export ports, and shielding them from Houthi targeting.

The meeting also addressed the latest developments in the political process and efforts to advance a comprehensive peace initiative. President Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed that it is not possible to engage in political negotiations with a militia that is internationally designated as a terrorist organization and poses a serious threat to regional and global security and stability.

Additionally, the discussions covered development and humanitarian projects funded by the French Republic through the European Union and United Nations agencies, as well as the active role that Paris plays in supporting stabilization and reconstruction efforts in the liberated areas. President Al-Zubaidi expressed his aspiration to see expanded French support, particularly in the fields of energy, education, healthcare, and the empowerment of women and youth.

For her part, the French Ambassador reaffirmed her country’s consistent position in support of international efforts aimed at achieving peace in our country. expressed France’s commitment to continuing its support for humanitarian and development projects across various regions, in coordination with the government and the PLC. She noted that France is fully aware of the scale of the challenges facing our country and will continue its efforts to support our people and alleviate their suffering.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, member of the STC Presidency and Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission supporting the PLC; Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Auxiliary Authority in the STC and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit; Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Vice President of the PLC; and Saleh Al-Qaiti, President Al-Zubaidi' Advisor.
