President Al-Zubaidi Commends South Korea’s Humanitarian Efforts to Alleviate the Suffering of Our People

President Commander Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, praised the distinguished bilateral relations between our country and the Republic of South Korea, affirming the Presidential Leadership Council’s keenness to strengthen avenues of cooperation with Seoul across various fields. This came during his meeting, held this evening in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the Ambassador of South Korea to Yemen, Mr. Bong-Kae Do.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian assistance provided by South Korea to alleviate the suffering of our people amid the dire economic conditions caused by the war ignited by the Houthi militias. He highlighted the importance of Korean initiatives, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment and livelihood improvement.

President Al-Zubaidi also commended, in particular, the leading humanitarian role played by the S. Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in supporting emergency humanitarian response projects and sustainable development programs in the sectors of water, health, and education. He stressed that these efforts represent a model of constructive humanitarian cooperation that contributes to stability.

Furthermore, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his aspiration to see an expansion of Korean support to our country, especially in the fields of capacity building, staff training, and youth qualification within governmental public service institutions, in ways that would enhance institutional performance in serving citizens.

For his part, the South Korean Ambassador reiterated his government’s firm support for all efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in our country, affirming South Korea’s commitment to increasing its humanitarian and development assistance to our people.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, member of the STC Presidency and Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission supporting the PLC; Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Auxiliary Authority in the STC and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit; Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Vice President of the PLC; and Saleh Al-Qaiti, Advisor to President Al-Zubaidi.
