The Administrative Body of the National Assembly Reviews Preparations to Commemorate the Anniversary of the Liberation of Hadramawt’s Coast

Hadramwawt | South

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting today, Wednesday, presided over by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, President of the National Assembly and Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council.

At the outset of the meeting, attended by Mr. Issam Abdo Ali, Vice President of the National Assembly, the Administrative Body reviewed the most prominent issues on the southern scene, foremost among them the ongoing preparations to mark the ninth anniversary of the liberation of the coast of Hadramawt from terrorist organizations in the city of Mukalla on April 24. The commemoration will be held under the slogan "Hadramawt First", as called for by the local leadership of the Transitional Council in the governorate, and the meeting reviewed the progress made in this regard to ensure the occasion reflects the great sacrifices made by the Hadrami Elite Forces in establishing security and stability in the governorate.

The Administrative Body praised the pivotal role played by the Hadrami Elite Forces in maintaining security and stability in the governorate, particularly along Hadramawt’s coast. It emphasized that these forces and their achievements represent one of the most prominent national accomplishments of the past period, thanks to their high level of efficiency, discipline, and readiness. The body also stressed the need to support and empower these forces to fulfill their duties in confronting any attempts that threaten the security of the governorate or its social fabric.

In this context, Mr. Al-Kathiri, in his speech during the meeting, warned against ongoing attempts to undermine the southern national project — for which the Southern Transitional Council was established with a popular mandate — through efforts to sow chaos and destabilize security along Hadramawt’s coast, aiming to sever the governorate from its southern surroundings and identity.

Al-Kathiri affirmed that Hadramawt has been and will remain a core part of the South, emphasizing: "There is no South without Hadramawt," and stressing: "We will not tolerate any attempt to undermine stability and harmony in Hadramawt."

Following this, the Body reviewed the report of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the report of the General Education Committee regarding the quality of education, which included the problems and challenges facing the educational process — such as the closure of public schools and teacher strikes  and the consequences of these issues on students. The report was approved, taking into account the observations presented by the members.
